In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the production of this candy was done by hand and not automated. Even to this day, the most candy corn is sold in the autumn months. It's estimated that more than 8 billion pieces of candy corn are manufactured and sold annually.

Manufacturers are more likely to produce and sell candy corn when they think people are going to buy it.
