Sugar Free Ccake Recipe

Cake is definitely one of the world's most popular desserts. However, there is a hidden hazard found in desserts such as cake and that is sugar. Refined sugar can have detrimental effects on health, which is why so many people are going sugar free these days. You should definitely consider a sugar free cake recipe instead of one that contains refined sugar. If you have Type 2 diabetes, the avoidance of sugar is likely doctors orders. One reason sugar is so bad is because it is high in calories. It is estimated that around twenty percent of most Americans' calories are from sugar.

The calories found in sugar are what is known as empty calories. Empty calories do not provide any nutrients. That means you're getting the downside of consuming calories without any benefits. Sugar is like a drug, because it causes highs and lows in blood sugar, energy level and mood. It even uses up vital nutrients in the body like B vitamins and calcium. You should know that it's not just white sugar that's the problem, either. Brown sugar and corn syrup are also just as harmful. Many people also feel that sugar substitutes like aspartame and sucralose should also be avoided. However, that is a matter of personal choice.

So what can you do if you want to bake a cake without sugar or artifical sweetener? The answer is simple -- use natural fruit juice. Fruit juice concentrates are sweet but don't contain refined sugar. Even certain whole fruits like bananas can be used to sweeten your cake. Here is a recipe for cake that uses bananas and a small amount of artificial sweetener:

1 cup banana (mashed)
2 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
6 packets artificial sweetener
Sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients then blend with electric mixer until batter is smooth. Allow to cool before finishing with sugar free frosting.

You can make sugar free frosting by whipping together sugar free vanilla pudding, 1 3/4 cups milk, a tub of sugar free whipped topping and a package of cream cheese. Of course you could use any flavor pudding that you like in this frosting recipe. There are plenty of other great sugar free cake recipe choices you can try.
